Buccaneer Boat Lifts build boat lifts on the coast of Georgia in an area with a rich pirate history. The boat lifts are a cradle that get lowered into the water so the boat can drive onto them and then cables lift the cradle up so the boat can be stored above the water.
The client came to me with a concept already in mind. They had a simplified boat illustration with two pirate swords holding the boat, symbolizing the lift and relating to the pirate history in the area. I came up with a few different variations on the concept, and we realized the sword being parallel to the boat, rather than in a V underneath it represented the actual lift better. It also simplified the logo a lot. From there I experimented with different sizes of the sword and we chose the size that we thought represented the lift best.
